St. Elizabeth Parish School of Religion (PSR) is a combination home/parish family program for families with children in grades 1 – 8 who do not attend St. Elizabeth school. Parents teach their own children at home each week, using a textbook approved by the Diocese. Once a month, parents and children registered in the program meet for support, prayer and a group lesson. These Family Meetings typically take place on the 2nd Sunday of the month in the ECC (Early Childhood Center) from 8:45 – 9:45am and are a required part of the program. Parents will receive the dates of monthly meetings at the Parent Meeting Sunday, September 29, 2024 in the ECC after 10am Mass.
1st Reconciliation & 1st Eucharist Preparation (at least 2nd Grade)
Children not attending St. Elizabeth school who desire to receive 1st Reconciliation and 1st Eucharist prepare for these sacraments through the PSR. Parents will be required to attend a meeting for each sacrament. Students and parents will be required to attend one extra class to prepare for each sacrament. It is expected that children attend most of the year's regular classes.
Confirmation Preparation (6th, 7th or 8th Grade)
The Diocese of Kansas City-St. Joseph is changing the age of Confirmation to 6th Grade over the next two years. Children in Grades 6-8 not attending St. Elizabeth school who desire to receive Confirmation prepare for these sacraments through the PSR. Please note that if your child is in high school, they will still be able to receive Confirmation this coming school year (2024-2025) through our High School Confirmation program. More information for that will be coming in December.
Your child MUST be registered in order to play Parochial League Sports this coming school year.
To secure your place and ensure that enough books will be ordered, your child must be registered for the 2024/2025 PSR year no later than September 15. There is a $25* supply fee per child that is due at the Parent Meeting/Book Pick-Up on Sunday, September 29 after 10am Mass in the ECC (Early Childhood Center.)
